Stardust

Ever since Peter Jackson chose to bring to the screen the J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy epic "The Lord of the Rings" many a Producer scrambled to cash in on the sudden discovery that the movie going public had rekindled its love for the fantastic.

Many Fantasy movies followed, both one-offs and multi-parted. Stardust, I am glad to say, is not one of these. Stardust is in a class of its own.

While Stardust has elements found in many Fantasy movies, it only uses these as part of defining the alternate, parallel universe, world in which the story plays out. Though what you'll find, should you care to watch it, is that Stardust is a Fairy-tale. As delightfully and masterfully told as naturally and subtly performed by an impressive cast.

The movie is one of those British productions that incorporates some American talent, or should I say 'names'. Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer lend their years of experience and world renowned silver screen uber-legend Peter O'Tool puts in a cameo.

For some movies the preview oversells, for this one the preview barely alludes to the fun I had watching this wonderfully layered story unfold.
